Barney Willis, known to many as Bugleboy, has played horn for 50 years. He began playing when he was between the ages of 5 & 6 years old. Barney is a graduate of Shenandoah Conservatory of Music, in Winchester, VA, where he studied Music Theory, Jazz Studies, and Music Education. After receiving his Bachelor of Music Education degree in 1982, Barney began giving private music instruction along with his wife, Melanie.
Barney is a longtime musician, having played in various musical settings, such as Rock and Pop Bands, Jazz Ensembles, Big Band Swing Ensembles, Church Praise Bands, Orchestras and Community Bands. Barney is a music arranger for brass instrumentation and has been a music teacher for many years. Although he hails from the Eastern Shore of Maryland and has ties to the Shenandoah Valley in Northern Virginia, he now performs in the Charleston, SC area.
Using a state-of-the-art system, Barney plays trumpet and flugelhorn to provide soft background music for a variety of occasions. Barney is available to provide soft background music for Dinner Clubs, Weddings, Cocktail/Dinner Hour, Private Party Occasions, Celebration of Life Services etc. With a broad repertoire of over 145 songs, his music will appeal to a wide audience covering all age groups and musical tastes.
